THE POSITION
LOCATION: UBUD, BALI


Kopernik's Solutions Lab focuses on a lean experimentation approach to finding what works, testing promising solutions by collecting and analyzing data in order to prove or disprove our experimentation hypotheses. Our solutions may be technology driven (physical or ICT) or approaches inspired by behavioral insights. We work with both 'ready to go' commercial technologies as well as products designed in-house by Solutions Lab's engineers.

Kopernik ensures all our projects contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and fall under our six focus sectors:

Kopernik requires a Senior Analyst to work within the Solutions Lab team to design and implement experimentation projects. This position will have a particular focus on developing viable social enterprise or business models, providing cost/benefit analyses and economic modelling for the ultimate purpose of providing technology to last mile communities.
 
REQUIREMENTS
  • Indonesian national;
  • A University degree in economics, social entrepreneurship, business administration or development studies is required, a relevant post-graduate degree is preferred;
  • 2-5 years' professional work experience;
  • Excellent organisational skills;
  • High energy levels;
  • Demonstrated success in research and analyzing primary and secondary data to influence decision making.
Skills and behaviors:
  • Excellent communication skills in English and Indonesian;
  • Excellent research and analytical skills;
  • Excellent presentation skills and ability to represent Kopernik to disseminate our work;
  • Advanced computer skills with fluency in Excel and PowerPoint;
  • Impact and data focused;
  • A can-do and collaborative mind set – comfortable with the ambiguities and demands from a rapidly evolving work environment;
  • A commitment to Kopernik's values and reaching underserved communities;
  • Willingness to travel to remote communities.

RESPONSIBILITIES


Economic Evaluation
  • Develop a toolkit for and advise on best practices related to economic evaluation such as cost and benefit analyses for technology distribution and social impact projects;
  • Devise business plans to pitch project ideas for scale-up funding or private sector adoption;
  • Ability to comfortably apply various regression models to data and analyze results.
Leadership
  • Manage project teams and delegate tasks to junior team members;
  • Provide leadership in terms of mentorship and clear instructions and guidance to deliver project objectives.
Project Management & Design
  • Manage assigned projects in accordance with Kopernik's project management toolkit;
  • Conduct monitoring and evaluation tasks and provide research results in line with Kopernik's standards and guidelines;
  • Prepare, coordinate and conduct interviews with individuals, households, local government and businesses;
  • Develop research design plans and collect data in order to prove or disprove our experimentation hypotheses.
Research
  • Identify, research and provide analysis on the potential of new project opportunities in Kopernik's six focus sectors;
  • Conduct research on the broader socio-economic status of particular geographic locations in Indonesia highlighting unmet needs.
Data Analysis & Report Writing
  • Collect, clean and analyse data collected in the field;
  • Interpret and summarise findings in a succinct, visual way;
  • Develop funding proposals and partnership agreements.
Partnership Building
  • Engage and liaise with partners, building new relationships and managing current relationships;
  • Respond to incoming correspondence from partners and host partner engagement meetings and present to external audiences at seminars and conferences.
Other Tasks
  • Collaborate and assist other teams in Kopernik as needed.
