Responsibilities
This position serves as Rurality Senior Project Manager with oversight and management responsibility for programme and staff therein:
1. Plan, coordinate and oversee activities and service provision to Rurality identified project in Solomon Islands, ensuring all delivery targets are satisfactorily met. This including: work planning, field work supervision, budget management, members communication, building new relationships with other organisations/stakeholders, impact measurement, reporting
2. Carry out field work (training, community engagement), specifically the Action Plan elaborated after the Rural Dynamic Diagnostic/RDD. Provide regular feedback to adjust this Action Plan
3. Provide advice, ideas, and innovations; and participate actively for helping spread and develop Rurality programme: from the vision to the day-to-day work.
4. Provide coaching, guidance and support to the field team in order to deliver quality work
5. Undertake regular interactions with the partners in Solomon Islands, first of all the copra company but also the other identified stakeholders
6. Undertake regular communications with Head of Rurality Programme, and other Senior Earthworm staff with a view to providing clear updates on progress, challenges and issues for which additional support may be required. In the meantime, share experiences with other Rurality project managers
Scope of Work
This position will require planning and organizational skills, team support. In addition, the position will require regular meetings with stakeholders.
This position is part time and may require travel and support to other Earthworm global programs (to be discussed and negotiated)
Key expected results/deliverables
· Rurality Solomon Islands project is well run regarding the objectives, the members' expectations and the budget
· Good working relationships established and maintained with regional stakeholders, government authorities and national NGOs
· Rurality project is visible in Solomon Islands
· Provide regular written reports and updates on work plan implementation.
· Share lessons learned from the Solomon Islands project with other Earthworm Rurality teams, creating opportunities for exchange and professional growth
Requirements – Candidate Profile Minimum Qualifications
- Education and skills
· Master's degree or other equivalent higher-level training in agricultural, sociology, rural development, forestry, natural resource management, environmental or social sciences or business
· Advanced writing and communication skills in English
· Well-developed management and leadership capabilities
· Advanced personal computer, email, Microsoft Office Programme suite, Internet skills, etc.
· GIS and GPS mapping qualification desirable
- Experience
· Minimum of 6 years relevant business experience or non-profit, with increasing responsibilities in programme and people management
· Field experience, particularly with local communities, in rural areas
· Experience with Pacific culture
· Experienced in managing a team (also remotely)
- Knowledge and abilities
· Listening and humility
· Ability to spend time in remote & rural areas, autonomous
· Entrepreneur to develop and free up innovations from farmers
· Financial management & administration
· HR (people management) & staff development
· Client relations
Secondary qualifications (value added)
· Fund-raising, proposal writing and project development experience
Working conditions / Physical effort:
· Living Conditions: TBC - the job will require frequent travels to Noro, Solomon Island
· The candidate should be prepared to work in both office and field settings
· Ability to travel extensively and be comfortable working away from home and keeping long hours
